Birthday Beautiful

There is something humbling about turning 30...and to be honest, it was the struggle of the past month as I came  to terms with life being...what life is. What I love about Jesus, though, is that he will not let you wallow long within your heart before reaching down with his amazingly gracious hands and showing you the beauty of what life is.

Life is...Friday night foodie friends eating dinner at Bistro du Midi  in Boston to kick off the last night of my twenties in wine and dine style. It was the dinner of a decade as I started with sweet wine and the most amazing lentil soup I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It was smoky and creamy and too much for a starter course so there was lots of sharing. Follow that with monkfish with eggplant, and ending with a poached pear with mascarpone cheese and raspberry gelato. Mmmm. I was happy to share my dishes, and happier still to share it with sweet friends who will order their meal gluten free too just so I can share.

Zeppelin splashing in the waves

Life is...early birthday mornings with Mom driving 2 hours to the ocean with our three favorite furry friends. There is such peace in watching a huge body of water like the ocean. It never fails to remind me that God is big and I am small. It was fun to get to watch Zeppelin enjoy splashing in the waves, and the goofy look on Milo's face as he took in the people and the sights. Even Jake found new ground to sniff and enjoy. Zeppelin definitely needs to head back to the ocean soon. I think her lab nature found it's motherland!

Life is... driving back home to a much less intimate dinner with friends at The Cellar Bar .Where else can you pair an awesome atmosphere with fine food and pub food in the same meal? It was such a nice time watching people from all parts of my life mingle with one another. And what was even nicer, was driving home at 10:30 p.m. praising God for another year of life. I'm 30 now.
~And it really is a beautiful life~
